Pen + Napkin Project

This past month, we were given the amazing opportunity to partner with Pen + Napkin, a non-profit organization who helps furnish and decorate the homes of families transitioning out of homelessness- As soon as we heard about their incredible mission, we knew we wanted to be a part of it in any way that we could. Thanks to our incredible friends, family, designer friends, and vendors, we were able to fundraise enough money to furnish the bedroom of their two children, the parents’ bedroom, the family room, the dining area, an outdoor patio, as well as a nook for sewing and working from home. Since this is their family’s first apartment after completing a transitional program, they did not have many material items to start with - the family room consisted of a donated sofa and chair, the kids were sleeping on the floor with only blankets and pillows, and the parents’ bedroom lacked that comfortable feeling that is deserved after a long day.

BEFORE

We know firsthand how important it is to feel comfortable and at peace in your own home, so our main goal was to give them that “homey” feeling so they are excited to come home at the end of the day. We transformed the family room by adding a soft, flatweave rug, a chic coffee table, a caned console table, and a TV, along with a dining set with enough seats for all of them. In the kids’ room, we added two twin beds and mattresses so the kids can sleep peacefully, toys and book storage, dressers for their clothes, and artwork to keep them inspired. In the parents’ bedroom, we were able to get them new bedding, beautiful nightstands, and table lamps to create an inviting atmosphere. Finally, we added a large desk and a beautiful chair so Olga can have her own space to be able to work and comfortably use her sewing machine.

We are so happy with how their home came together and are so thankful to have been able to gift them a cozy, restful space to live and be together as a family. Olga and her family were incredibly grateful for their new home and were blown away with the kindness that everyone showed in donating to help improve their lives. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

A special thank you to Design Logistics for receiving, building, and installing all of the furniture pieces- we could not have done it without you!
