Where Style Meets Purpose: Our Multifunctional Office Makeover

What started as a plain, catch-all room used for overflow storage and a makeshift workspace has been transformed into a polished, multipurpose space full of personality and intention. With custom cabinetry, layered finishes, and thoughtful details, this room now seamlessly balances beauty and utility—serving as both a calming office and a comfortable guest room.

The Vision

This room needed to serve two purposes: a daily office space that felt inspiring and tidy, and a welcoming guest room when needed. We wanted it to feel elevated and custom—like a space you'd actually look forward to spending time in—without sacrificing function.

The Custom Murphy Bed

The true star of this makeover is the custom-built Murphy bed. During the day, it blends seamlessly into the wall with its Shaker-inspired paneling and beautiful brass hardware. But when guests come to stay, it folds down effortlessly into a comfortable full-size bed.

We designed the cabinetry to feel intentional, more like built-in millwork than a typical pull-down bed. It allows the room to instantly transition from "office" to "guest suite" without clutter or compromise.

Wallpapered Ceiling: The Unexpected Moment

To add softness and personality, we wallpapered the ceiling in a subtle yet textural print. This small detail draws the eye upward and adds warmth without overwhelming the room. It’s the kind of feature that feels layered and custom—the difference between a room that feels finished and one that feels forgettable.

Paneled Walls for Depth

We added custom wall paneling throughout the lower half of the room for added architectural interest. Painted in the same tone as the Murphy bed cabinetry, it creates cohesion while giving the space depth and texture. The result? A room that feels charming, tailored, and thoughtfully considered.

Final Touches

A window seat with hidden storage makes use of a narrow wall, creating a cozy reading nook and extra seating. A natural fiber rug grounds the space, while layered textiles and soft colors ensure the office feels serene and functional—even on the busiest days.

This room now reflects the best of both worlds: a professional workspace and a serene guest retreat—all wrapped in timeless, custom details.
